In over seven years of experience working in the field of landscape architecture and urban design, Matt Thomas has worked on numerous great projects of varying scales.  Matt holds a Masters degree in Landscape Architecture and a Bachelors of Arts in the Built Environment from Arizona State University where his passion for ecology, the humanities and architecture was combined with his desire to increase the quality of life of people living in urban environments. His approach to landscape architecture and urban design is rooted in a respect for the natural ecology of the site combined with sensibilities to the human experience has led Matt to create a series of successful projects that are resilient, functional and beautiful at the same time.

Prior to joining The Green Room, Matt gained experience working on projects from large scale Master Planning projects to Public Memorials, from Federal and Municipal projects to Private Gardens, and from Mixed-Use Urban developments and Master Planned Residential Communities to University Campus Projects. His experience includes Project Manager of the Tempe Rio Salado Park and Beach Park Master Plan, Splendido Rancho Vistoso Villas Expansion, ASU School of Life Sciences Master Plan, Scottsdale Memorial for the Fallen and the Horseshoe Bend Trailhead. Other notable projects include work performed on multiple projects at Agritopia, ASU Medical Campus adjacent to Mayo Clinic, ASU’s expansion into the Northern Phoenix Biomed Campus, Knipe Village, the Pima-Dynamite Trailhead, Tempe Vela apartments, Sanctuary at Desert Ridge Master Planned Community, Gila River Indian Community Police Headquarters, Pinal County San Tan Courthouse and the Downtown Scottsdale Civic Center & Connectivity Master Plan. 

Throughout his varied project experience, Matt has worked in all levels of the design process implementing his holistic design philosophy of beauty, function and ecological resiliency to create unique spaces with respect to a sense of place.
